Many studies show people with cardiovascular disease are at a greater risk of contracting koban 19 and signs of heart attacks and strokes have been found to be common in patients with infections like the coronavirus.
First, how is the coronavirus impacting the heart? Well, as with many a viral infection, when people get very seriously ill, there, that's on the heart, both from increased demand from the body and in the effects of the virus and inflammation with many people who already have underlying heart conditions.
These things are made worse and by the coronavirus and, as you mentioned, as we know with this coronavirus, those with these underlying health conditions, such as heart disease, are at a greater risk. What should they be doing right now during this time to make sure they are protecting themselves? Well, there's been a lot of talks, as you know, about social distancing and limiting your exposure to other people.
This is particularly important for people with underlying conditions. It'S very difficult. I think for all of us, especially as time goes on we're social creatures, but for people with medical conditions, particularly those in both of the hearts. You really need to make sure that you reduce your exposure to other people. Don'T take your walk still.
Do your exercise make sure you take your medication and pay attention to that healthy living that you've been doing, but you just have to keep your distance from people and for the time being, at least for the foreseeable future, try those interactions with the people to limit Your exposure to the virus and even with limiting your exposure and practicing all of those measures, how much greater is the risk for those with these wonder underlying health conditions like heart disease if they are diagnosed with Cova 19, I think still for the majority of people, The the virus will be relatively mild it, it's always a little scarier, but many of these people don't have terrible problems.
The difficulty is, we can't tell who will be seriously affected if it won't. So the emphasis really needs to be on a voice. In fiction, you know we learning more and more about the virus, as it goes in our Hospital, as with other hospitals, we're getting more and more Ovid patients, although the number here in Florida has been approximately lower than we thought, but as we learn more from Each patient with there's more that we can do for people, but knowing that these folks, that there's a greater risk, it makes it all the more important that we try to avoid having this situation.
And what stands out to you is the most interesting thing that you are learning from these COVID 19 cases that you're seeing um. What I think we find is that I'm amazed at the lack of symptoms in the number of people who carry the virus. I think one of the most perplexing and one of the most difficult things about this particular virus is that people will have the virus and in or in a position to shed the virus to other people when they show so few signs of any infection. That'S why and as in general, we think we feel well. We are well respected.
The truth is we can have this virus without actually knowing it because our symptoms are so minimal. So I think that that makes it all the more important that we do. The things that were being told about keeping distance for people limiting our interactions until this crisis passed all very good information.
Thank you so much for being here with us this morning, as the doctor just mentioned, it's important that we all take these social distancing guidelines very seriously. We will be right back with much more after the break.
